Go Daddy experience

Hi Folks,
Yesterday afternoon I signed up with a godaddy account. Just thought I would share my experiences thus far with you.
Did you know that it takes a few days to register a new domain name ?
domain wait time

I am in the process of using their one click process of installing WordPress.
After a good nights sleep I logged in to my account only to see it says “still installing”.
(really approx 15 hours, and still installing ??)

So I went to create a help desk ticket (did’nt phone-because it isn’t ultra urgent) and wow..
9 hours wait time. (anyone else think that seems way too long ?).

  1. Eric, GoDaddy has always been a hassle to work with. This is my first time hearing about their wait time on a domain registration. Usually it is available right away.

If you really want to test how difficult they are to work with, wait until you want to transfer your domain to another registrar. That process can take a up to 72 hours and a phone call to get things moving. They make it very challenging!

Anyway, looking forward to hearing more about your experience.

  2. Thanks for the response Matt.
This is my first time using GoDaddy, so I wasnt sure what to expect.
After a helpdesk ticket response – about 24 hours later my wordpress installation was complete. BUT I am still
waiting on the domain to become active. (purchased on Saturday Feb 16th). Do you have any recommendations on host providers that you like ?
