Learning JavaScript

I enrolled in a community college course to take Javascript. So I ordered the textbook Murach – javascript & DOM. I couldn’t get past chapter 2. No matter how many times I read (and re-read) sections it wasnt sinking in. Due to other circumstances un-registered from the course anyway so might have been a good thing I started to pre-read.

So I had another book given to me by a friend Javascript – Visual Quickstart guide, eighth edition and WOW !! what a difference. It (so far) is making perfect sense to me (on chapter 3).

If you don’t have ANY programming background I would advise that you not get the Murach Javascript (2009) book but opt for the quickstart book (Tom Negrino / Dori Smith). It is more current as well (2012).

Happy developing !!
